Terms & warranty
§1 — Who we are
Dziadek Komodor is operated by two private individuals as unregistered small-scale activity (działalność nierejestrowana) under Polish law (Art. 5(1) of the Act of 6 March 2018 — Law on Entrepreneurs). We are not registered in any commercial register, do not hold a tax identification number (NIP/REGON), and do not issue VAT invoices. All services are performed personally by us.

§2 — Enquiry and quote
- You can place an order via the contact form, by phone, or by email.
- An initial diagnosis is free of charge. If a detailed diagnosis is needed (disassembly, measurements), its cost is stated upfront and deducted from the repair price if you accept the quote.
- A written quote (email or message) is provided before any repair work begins.
- We start work only after you explicitly approve the quote.
- Approval may be given by email, message, or verbally — verbal approval is confirmed by us in a follow-up text message.
§3 — Carrying out the repair
- Once we accept a job we confirm receipt and give an estimated turnaround time.
- If additional faults are discovered or the scope changes during the repair, we inform you and provide an updated quote. Further work proceeds only after you accept the change.
- We test the device for correct operation within the scope of the service before returning it.
§4 — Warranty
- We provide a voluntary 3-month warranty on completed repairs, starting from the day you collect the device.
- The warranty covers only the fault that was the subject of the repair.
- The warranty does not cover:
- new faults unrelated to the service performed,
- mechanical damage, liquid damage, or misuse occurring after collection,
- consumable parts (batteries, fans, HDDs),
- damage caused by malware or unauthorised modifications after the repair.
- Warranty claims must be submitted by email to kontakt@dziadekkomodor.pl. We will respond promptly, within 14 days at most.
§5 — Data protection and backup
- Before any repair involving the drive or software (OS reinstall, motherboard repair, data recovery) we inform you of the risk of data loss.
- We strongly recommend backing up your data before handing over the device.
- Where possible and agreed with you, we also back up the device before starting work — however we are not liable for data loss where no backup was made before the device was handed over, unless the loss resulted from our negligence.
- We do not browse file contents beyond what is strictly necessary to carry out the service.
§6 — Drop-off and collection
You can get your device to us in three ways:
- Drop-off (collection point in Wyrzysk) — free; we share the exact address once we're in touch.
- Courier — shipping costs are on you, in both directions.
- We pick up — available in the Piła and Bydgoszcz area, by prior arrangement; fuel cost (there and back) + 12 zł. Availability confirmed individually — not always possible right away.
§7 — Pricing and payment
- All prices are in Polish złoty (PLN). As an unregistered activity we are not VAT-registered — quoted amounts are the full amounts payable.
- We accept cash on collection and bank transfer.
- For courier jobs, cash on delivery or transfer before return shipping is arranged individually.
§8 — Uncollected devices
Devices left uncollected for 4 months after you are notified that the repair or diagnosis is complete are treated as abandoned under Art. 180 of the Polish Civil Code. We will contact you in advance before this deadline. A storage fee of 5 zł/day may apply after 30 days from completion of the repair — we will notify you in advance.
§9 — Complaints
- All service complaints should be sent to kontakt@dziadekkomodor.pl.
- We will respond within 14 calendar days of receiving the complaint.
- If a complaint is upheld, we will — depending on the circumstances — redo the repair, issue a partial refund, or agree another mutually satisfactory resolution.
§10 — General provisions
- Matters not covered by these terms are governed by Polish civil law, in particular the Civil Code (Kodeks cywilny).
- We will always try to resolve disputes amicably. If no agreement is reached, the competent court is the civil court at the customer's place of residence or our registered address.
- These terms are effective from the date shown in the header and may be updated — the current version is always available on this page.
